The season isn’t underway yet, but there has been some scorching golf in the lead-up. A hole-in-one, two best ever scores including Bas threatening to shoot even par off the stick last weekend at Oaty. Look out for when the real stuff starts up!
The Lost Bougle
First event for 2017 is the Bougle, April 22-24. It’s a double Barny year. Leroy is defending Champ and could go 4 wins from 7 starts here if he wins again. Everyone is coming in in scintillating form, so it should be an absolute cracker! The field includes the Top 4 Gents and all previous winners. More superstars to be announced shortly we hope.
After Leroy’s comfy win at Tarraleah last year, he’s picked us another quirky course to compete on – Bothwell. Gotta love Local Rule No.8 : A ball striking a sheep may be replayed without penalty.
We’re headed there on the weekend 20/21 May for 18 holes of Stableford. Always the biggest field in Gentlemen’s World Tour golf and the best chance for extra play-off holes.
Felix (3 time winner and defending Champ) will fire the starter’s pistol some time in June. To be wrapped by late November, with the Final likely at Royal Hobart again, most likely with someone from Aurora in the Final and threatening to extend the CURSE to 6 years.
To be confirmed via an Extraordinary Meeting of the Tasmanian Gentleman’s World Tour in late April. Likely to be held interstate (QLD or Vic) in October. Also to be discussed at the meeting, changing the name of the Tour by replacing “Gentleman” with “Gentleperson”
World Number One Ranking
Bas starts the year with a massive lead, but he is defending a lot of points that will get replaced at each Major. Felix and Leroy are best placed to snatch the Number One back, with the other Gents needing to build some good results for a shot at #1 a bit further down the track.
