The two Leighs, ready to fire!
Basil’s 25m bomb birdie putt on the last hole last year seems to have broken the Curse! This year’s Final has no Aurora employees in it, despite Felix and Ian giving the round robins and playoffs a good shake.
By a whisker, it would be the first non-Felix Final for 5 years.
Consequently, a double Leigh battle was set for Royal Hobart at the end of September, with the winner to claim their first MM title and their personal Grand Slam, following on from The Great Basil being the first to achieve the remarkable feat last year.
The finest golfers on the Planet, getting ready to tame Huonville GC. (LtoR) Cravo (insert), Leroy, Felix, Ian, Gaz, Darvy and Basil.
It was the highest performance B’n’D ever – in fact six of the seven Gents shot a high enough stableford score to have won previous editions. Ian and Leroy both shot their best ever rounds off the stick, and Bas was amazing as always. But no one could match the power and precision of the Herminator and his B’n’D record 41 points. Read on for how it happened.
Bas was our Player of the Year, with 2 wins and 2 x 2nd place finishes. Just awesome! Bas and Leroy are the only Gents to have won this gong.
2017 saw Basil Beaver (our World Number One), Stu McDougall (2016 Rookie sensation) , Matt Crawford (2015 MM Runner-Up) and the Good Doctor Gaz (2nd in the 2015 Rookie of the Year) return to Championship Golf. Sensational. Welcome back boys.
And there was lots of HOT GOLF.
Bas and Felix – legends of the GWT
World Number One Basil Beaver badly wants a win here to be the first Gent to grab a Career Slam. Felix is not inclined to lose, being the winner of the past 3 MM Finals and still channelling the Aurora Curse. He’s also sporting an unwashed shirt through the entire MM series (5 months) to add extra mojo and whiffo.
Can Basil do it? Or will Felix go B2B2B2B?
