The short 11th at Tasmania GC. Into the wind every time.
The 2018 MM got off to a slow and wet start, with defending champ Basil struggling to find anyone brave enough to play him, Leroy pinging a hammy, and then a huge storm knocking out Kingston Beach Golf Course for a month or two – which meant that three time Champ Felix stayed in the sheds til June.
It also saw the introduction of the new Fairness in Handicapping initiative, which will allow for greater competitiveness from the high handicappers, and hopefully see them snagging their first Majors soon.
Bas and Felix – legends of the GWT
World Number One Basil Beaver badly wants a win here to be the first Gent to grab a Career Slam. Felix is not inclined to lose, being the winner of the past 3 MM Finals and still channelling the Aurora Curse. He’s also sporting an unwashed shirt through the entire MM series (5 months) to add extra mojo and whiffo.
Can Basil do it? Or will Felix go B2B2B2B?
Follow all the action from another classic Gentlepersons’ World Tour Matchplay Masters Final, the 6th instalment.
This blog captures Gentlepersons’ records in the Matchplay Masters at the courses they’ve played. The big story would be Basil +1 million wins at Huonville, if anyone was foolish enough to play him there.

Here’s an incomplete record of Matchplay Masters Round Robin reports that I’ve dragged out of our Vault, housed deep within a mountain in the Swiss Alps. Unfortunately we lost a few reports that were stored up against our aged gruyere cheeses and are now green piles of mould.
What remains is worth a read for the many thousands of GWT scholars out there, and for the players themselves to relive some of the old matches that have probably been forgotten.
Hello Esteemed Gents,
It has reached that time of year again where we do battle for the Match Play Masters, this year presented by the Aurora Curse.
Just how hard is it to beat the Aurora Curse? Find out here in Felix’s Report from the Round Robin stages in 2014……. Also featuring a Leroy chip-in for good measure.
Hi all, this is going to be short and sweet report, course correspondent Cravo took some snaps.
Matt declined a lift at 6:45 because he wanted to get there early, Gaz wondered why Matt wanted to borrow his tent, so we can surmise that Matt was on course from 4pm the day before 😉
